Traveling along the trade routes in Southern Russia and Northern China during the 1700s, gourmet tea became an extremely popular item. While the chests of tea travelled by camel from China to Europe through Russia, the tea leaves picked up scents from campfires along the way. Eleven thousand miles and six months later, the tea had changed dramatically; we named this tea Russian Caravan because of its travels along the trade routes.
The unique smoky flavor of this black tea is what made it Russia's second most popular beverage next to vodka. Enjoy the undertones of a blend that remains as a tradition among the finest Russian teas. We have delicately blended this high-grade black tea with hints of Lapsang Souchong, Formosa Oolong, and China Blend to make this exceptional tea complete. Russian Caravan Tea has an assertive flavor and is for those who like a strong cup of tea.
The following health benefits may accompany consumption of Russian Caravan Blended Tea:
· Lowered cholesterol

· Promotion of healthy skin, teeth, and bones
Ingredients: Lapsang Souchong, Formosa Oolong and Black tea.

A lovely balanced tea. The smoke is very forward, not a subtle smoke.
I love the deep, smoky flavor of this tea blend! Exactly what I was looking for as I love black teas as well as a good oolong flavor. They balance each other out well to create a bold and satisfying cup!
I love the story behind this tea. I was hesitant at first to drink something with a smoky quality, and the aroma of the dry tea is quite campfire-esque, but with proper steeping time it steps back, and what's there is really special. This is a totally unique blend, and I look forward to it when it comes up in the rotation of my other amazing teas from Orange Street Storehouse.
If you want a smoky tea that's a bit more mellow, this is a great option. Rich flavor but not overpowering.
If you like black teas but want to branch out from English Breakfast and Earl Gray, definitely give this a shot. Lapsang Souchong is usually a bit too aggressive for me on it's own, but in this blend, it add fantastic depth to the flavor and that beautiful campfire scent. Note that if you're a big fan of Lapsang Souchong already, there may not be enough of it here for your tastes, but for me its just right. In sum, this is a blend that's strong and bold without being bitter or overwhelming.
